AGN's The Road Ahead Episode Three: Way Station On a clear night, one can still see the glimmer of ash in a northern sunset. Fairhaven, Illinois, is nothing more than dust and memories. Some say the Illinois Quarantine ended with the mysterious fall of Washington Dam. Others swear by some semblance of civilization beyond the state line. In the months defining humanity’s downfall, those living in Port Falmouth have found themselves in the midst of its darkest hour. As violent rivalries return, old stories are unearthed. All for not, established and fortified Mongol camps seem to have faded from immediate history. Old leaders have vanished, and only rumors suggest what might’ve happened to them. Stonepoint Manor, once a teeming refugee residence nurtured by William Stonepoint, has seen strange times due to the man’s own disappearance. Still, the Manor's walls spell security for those who seek it. Meanwhile, travelers find refuge in Port Falmouth’s broken homes, abandoned downtown, and chilled fields. The Neutral Economic Zone brims with new arrivals—those who’d redefine the face of humankind in the center of its greatest struggle. Despite the disappearance of key leaders, rumors of returning forces promise security for some and death for others. Still, there are other oddities. Falmouth Caves, once shrouded in superstition, have been abandoned following the discovery of something monstrous. Little more than a myth, a man by the name of Dean Adamson is said to have caused a number of heinous experiments and atrocities in the now destroyed Washington Dam. Creatures lurk the woods, feasting on those unlucky enough to find themselves lost after sunset. A shadow of the past, Adamson's deeds still whisper between the trees late at night. As truths about the Illinois Quarantine are discovered, the Infection’s dark realities are finally realized. Port Falmouth, indeed, may be the final resting place for all of humanity if its survivors fail to act. Bloodied, shaken, and weary, survivors claim their stakes at the forefront of the apocalypse. The road ahead no longer exists, and the current way station, for many, is the end of the line. The Road Ahead: Way Station is the third and final installment of AGN’s The Road Ahead.
